Private Military and Security Companies (PMSC) appear to be the new form of privatization of security around the world. If they were massively used for overseas operations by western superpowers in regions like Kosovo, inIraq, Afghanistan or Latin America, from now on, they have become more present in Africa. In Central African region and more precisely in Cameroon, CAR and DRC, this dynamic of security privatization is made possible by a critical security situation where the postcolonial state is facing difficulties to protect both its population and territory. Nevertheless, the situation is not totally the same in all the countries of the studied era. In Cameroon on the one hand, defense and security forces remain strong and present on battlefield while on the other hand, in failed states like DRC and CAR, PMSC performs all types of security and defense service. By mobilizing geopolitics, comparative methods, Transnationalism and Neorealism, the objective of this work is to understand the presence of PMSC in security issues in Central African region. If their contribution to security in Cameroon, CAR and DRC is obvious, it also raises some problems due to its impact on the weakening of Rule of law, peace and security in Central African region.
